Who I Am
This is a brief introduction to who I am and what I do.
I’m a tutor by profession. I’m also a teacher by hobby, interest, and passion.
I first started on teaching during secondary school and junior college when I taught badgework to my juniors in my uniformed group.
I also shared what I knew about the classical guitar with my fellow schoolmates in the Guitar Club in secondary school and junior college. After NS, I taught the guitar at Yamaha Music School for a period of time.
When I was studying for my degree, I gave tuition on a part-time basis, i.e. teaching again.
In my first job after graduation, I taught Qigong at a fitness centre. I would eventually start to teach Tai Chi and Qigong on a freelance basis ever since.
Likewise in my second job, I was doing training of secondary school students and adult volunteers. Essentially, teaching again.
Since I left full-time employment I’ve been teaching on a full-time, freelance basis. I’ve taught individuals and also groups in government and private institutions like ITE, MDIS, Republic Polytechnic, Nanyang Polytechnic, EF Singapore etc. I’ve also done short-term engagements in schools like AJC, ACS(I) etc.
Through it all, I didn’t even need to be forced. Teaching just came naturally to me.
So if you’re asking if I teach because it’s a job or because I really want to teach, the answer is obvious.
Currently, I teach PSLE English, O-Level English and A-Level General Paper at tuition centres, in private tuition, and also in small group home tuition. I also teach O-Level English to international students at a commercial institution.
As for credentials, I hold a BA (Hons) in English from the University of London, a Diploma in TESOL (Grade A-) from the London Teacher Training Centre, and a MEd (English Language) from NIE / NTU (GPA 4.35 and scoring a majority of distinctions). So professionally and academically I’m more than qualified to teach English Language.
If you have any questions, you can always drop me an email.
